As I look into opportunities for building skills as a coach, I liken it to how I have done anything in my life: one idea, one step, leading to another.
After many years away from school, I returned nearly four years ago to work toward a two-year degree which would position me better as an independent woman. I am so grateful for what I received: meeting people I love and gaining the confidence to move forward. The grit it takes to work full-time and attend college full-time truly is not for the weak.
The way to get ourselves into any new field is by first believing we can. Making a decision that “we will do this,” and then setting about to prove ourselves true.
Next, we open to what comes. For each of us, this will be different.
It may be someone we meet, a word spoken, a class taken, a book read. One thing that sets the spark aflame.
I see learning as compared to a bouquet: what we gather accumulate as fragrant, distinctive flowers.
Lilies (delicate), orchids (ornate), roses (tender), wildflowers (passionate)…all offering their sometimes-unwieldy selves while yielding to the aroma of life.
Let us lay hold of lives which bare the deep underlayers of desires ready to spring forth.
